POWER OUTAGE – SEPTEMBER 27, 2019

Please be advised that crews are working to restore your power to you as quickly as possible.  We have restored power to over 3,200 customers.  However, we still need to restore power to 1,200 customers.  There is significant damage that needs to be replaced and all crew is working diligently to restore power to you.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

SCHEDULED OUTAGE – RESCHEDULED TO OCTOBER 2ND – River Road East (East End)

Wasaga Distribution Inc. has a planned power interruption in the area of Sunward Estates and River Road East (East End), scheduled for October 1, 2019.  In case of rain this date will be delayed until October 2, 2019.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

FRAUDULENT HYDRO DISCONNECTION CALLS

Individuals are calling Wasaga Distribution customers about an outstanding balance on their account and providing a phone number for them to call to make a payment to avoid disconnection (to-date we have heard of 1-800-331-9877 and 1-800-763-7405).  When customers then call these numbers, it sounds like they have called Wasaga Distribution.  These numbers are not Wasaga Distribution  numbers.  This is a scam.

Customers are advised not to call these numbers and not to provide any personal or financial information.

NOTICE OF CHANGE TO CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The Distribution System Code requires that every distributor produce its own “Conditions of Service” document.  The purpose of this document is to provide a means of communicating the types and levels of service available to the customers within the distributor’s service territory.

The current version of the Conditions of Service was published in 2017.  Since then, various changes to regulations and codes that govern Distributor activities have come into effect, which in turn require updates to the original document.

The revised document is available to view here.

The public is invited to make written comments on the revisions.  Comments will be accepted until July 31, 2019.

In 2017, Wasaga Distribution Inc. (WDI) exceeded all performance targets. Aging infrastructure continues to be a challenge facing utilities today. WDI must replace aging infrastructure at a pace that meets the challenge. In addition, vegetation control, including tree trimming activities, also continue to be a primary focus for WDI due to the highly treed community, this reduces the vulnerability of the distribution system to external uncontrollable events, such as weather.
