Wasaga Distribution Defers Approved May 1st Rate Increases
April 30, 2020
As part of normal operations, Wasaga Distribution Inc. applies yearly to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) for rate adjustments to cover inflation in its’ delivery costs plus the recovery of any variance accounts related to transmission and connection costs from its’ suppliers.
WDI understands the hardships that many customers face during the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of the current events, WDI has elected to defer the rate increases that have been approved by the OEB until November 1st of this year.
The decision to defer the increases on the delivery costs will save the average residential customer approximately $2.53 per bill or about 2.2% of their overall bill. For the average small commercial customer, the average bill savings is estimated at $6.47 or 2.24% of their bill.
These savings are in addition to the temporary changes by the Province to the cost of power for low volume customers where the mid-peak and on-peak cost of power were lowered to the off-peak prices until May 7, 2020
We wish all our customers good health through these times.
